Station Gives Away Valentine's Divorce
A Charleston radio station is observing Valentine's Day with a reminder that Cupid sometimes misses his mark. WKLC-FM, better known as Rock 105, is giving away a free divorce. Valentine's Day isn't all hearts and flowers, said WKLC Program Director Jay Nunley. There is a darker side, he said, "where maybe you despise your spouse and resent the entire day." .
Puppy love | FERN REED YARNICK
Stephen, my 5-year-old grandson, has become the apple of his grandmother's eye. Not to take away from his sister or his cousin, Stephen is the picture of innocence. Sitting in my apartment one day, my little cherub made a profound statement: "I am going to marry you, Gammy," he said softly. Shocked, I turned and said, "What did you say?" After repeating himself, I smiled, "Well, OK." A few weeks later, I saw my grandson in church. He was sporting a pair of new glasses that were just right for his face.Later that day, I called him on the telephone. "Stephen, you look so cute in your glasses. You are going to be so handsome when I come down the aisle to get married."I can't marry you," he quipped. "Why not," I countered? Quick as a flash, he had the answer. "I have another girlfriend.""Where did you meet her?""In preschool," he explained."Did she get you a valentine?" You could tell in his voice that he had run out of answers.

Nuclear Power Gets Boost from Candidates
Yet both say that new nuclear power cannot be ruled out. At a South Carolina rally, Clinton said: "I think nuclear power has to be part of our energy solution. . . . I don't have any preconceived opposition; I just want to be sure that we do it right, as carefully as we can." Obama, whose home state has 11 nuclear power plants, the biggest concentration in the country, said while campaigning in New Hampshire: "I don't think we can take nuclear power off the table." If the nation can resolve the waste and safety issues, he said, "then we should pursue it, and if we can't, we should not." The three top Democratic candidates all oppose creating a repository for nuclear waste at Yucca Mountain, 100 miles northwest of Las Vegas in the early-caucus state of Nevada.
Apple negotiates for Thai iPhone rights
Apple's latest attempt at negotiating international distribution of the iPhone is in Thailand, according to reports. Reuters cites Prattana Leelapanang, the assistant VP of wireless business marketing for Thailand's Advanced Info Service (AIS); according to Leelapanang, his company is already discussing the details of an arrangement with Apple, including revenue sharing. The last point is particularly notable, as neither Apple nor its telecom partners have in the past admitted to revenue sharing, although it is a widely accepted fact amongst analysts. AIS owns approximately 50 percent of the Thai cellular market, at 24.5 million subscribers. It is not known when the iPhone might premiere with AIS, but there is unlikely to be a rush, as the company is still planning a test of 3G broadband services.
