Beef Recall Includes Meat Sent To Some Fast Food Restaurants

It's the biggest beef recall in history with 143-million pounds getting pulled. A meat company is now under investigation for animal abuse, some of which was caught on tape. The undercover video shows cows at a California slaughter house too sick or injured to walk on their own, a clear violation of federal inspection laws. Now the beef, produced over a 2-year period is being recalled. Some of the beef was used in school lunch programs, including some in the Northside School District."As far as we know, none of it was served to students at all, said NISD spokesman Pascual Gonzalez. "We checked the boxes, the case number by lot number, and all of that has been accounted for and is in the warehouse."The company also provided beef to two fast food chains, Jack-In-The-Box and In-N-Out restaurants, and grocery stores.Since eating fast food is a way of life for many of us, News 4 did some checking to find out if any of the recalled beef was sent to any Jack-In-The-Box locations in San Antonio.

Kucinich Bows Out with Dignity, Bangs Anti-War Drum

We could watch all the veterans now living on the street move into their new, free apartments and help them heal their psychic and physical wounds.

We could watch speeches that treated Iran (and all countries) with respect and not have to, again, see a Secretary of Defense help the Bush administration with the demonization phase of a war run-up.

If the Department of Peace is not enacted by Congress, we could also watch as a "Peace Curriculum" is added to all West Point degree programs and to all basic and advanced military training.

This Week in Congress: 11.5.07-11.9.07

The Senate Judiciary Committee will vote on Michael Mukasey's nomination for attorney general. Mukasey has suggested that the president has the authority to decline to obey the law in order “to defend the country." What's more, he has repeatedly refused to tell the Judiciary Committee whether he considers coercive interrogation practices such as “waterboarding" to be torture.
